GRAMMY nominated musician Dr. Martin Taylor, MBE, is a virtuoso guitarist, composer, educator and musical innovator whom Acoustic magazine calls ‘THE Acoustic Guitarist of his Generation’.
Widely considered to be the world’s foremost exponent of solo jazz and fingerstyle guitar playing, Martin possesses an inimitable style that has earned him global acclaim from fellow musicians, fans and critics alike. He dazzles audiences with a signature style that artfully combines his virtuosity, emotion and humor with a strong, engaging stage presence.
In addition to his solo concerts and recordings, he has also collaborated with musicians from many different musical genres, including: Jeff Beck, Tommy Emmanuel, Bill Wyman, Chet Atkins, Stephane Grappelli, David Grisman, George Harrison, Jamie Cullum, Bryn Terfel, Dianne Schuur and Gary Burton.
Taylor brings a rich and varied musical heritage to his play, to the extent that Tommy Emmanuel remarked that Taylor is “a portal into all that came before." Over his stellar career, Taylor has amassed a record 14 British Jazz Awards as a guitarist. Several of his albums have been in the Top 10 in the USA and Europe.

Shrewsbury Django fest is incredibly excited to present a very rare opportunity to see and hear
absolute royalty of the Gypsy Jazz world in this quintet lead by two of the genres most celebrated Sinti Gypsy guitarists.
Set to recreate the original 5 piece line up of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli's famous Quintette du Hot Club de France of 3 guitars, violin and bass, Belgian Gypsy, Fapy Lafertin - considered to be the "godfather" of modern gypsy jazz guitar - joins forces with the phenomenal Dutch Gypsy Paulus Schäfer to front this all out power quintet. Featuring the world renowned Dutch violinist Christiaan Van Hemert, perhaps best known for his work with the Rosenberg academy, Chris Quinn who has spent the past decade touring and recording with with artists like Robin Nolan, Stochelo Rosenberg, Moses Rosenberg, Clive Carroll and Paulus Schäfer. Holding down the bass is Mike Green, well known for his work with the Remi Harris Trio which recently saw backing Jamie Cullum at the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms! If you love gypsy jazz, this has to be the UK gig of the year!...

Gary Potter, possibly the UK's best known gypsy jazz guitarist who's outspoken admirers have included Chet Atkins and George Harrison, he also appeared in the television documentary, The Django Legacy. His virtuoso playing is full of joy and humour.
John Wheatcroft has had an amazing career in the jazz guitar world playing with with artists as diverse as Billy Cobham (Miles Davis), John Williams, Frank Gambale (Chick Corea), Paco Peña, Mozes Rosenberg, Mike Clark and Bill Summers (The Headhunters). John has toured the world with both Carl Palmer (ELP) and John Jorgenson (Elton John/ Hellecasters) and he is a regular contributor to Guitar Techniques Magazine, along with contributing numerous lessons for Guitarist UK, Guitar Part (France) and Guitar World.

Remi Harris is an exciting Jazz & Blues guitarist from the UK who's unique style draws inspiration from artists such as Django Reinhardt, Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, Peter Green and Led Zeppelin. He has performed at Buckingham Palace, Montreal Jazz Festival, BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall with Jamie Cullum, on BBC 4 Television and live on BBC Radio 2 & 3. In his live shows Remi plays an eclectic mix of jazz standards, improvisations, original compositions and new arrangements of his favourite tunes. He plays a variety of acoustic and electric guitars and the shows are interspersed with his commentary about the history of the music and instruments he’s playing.
